Dripping faucet? We fix it fast β before it runs up your water bill.
A dripping faucet is easy to dismiss as a minor nuisance. But a faucet that drips once per second wastes more than 3,000 gallons of water per year β that's real money on your water bill, and in Kansas City's hard water environment, mineral deposits can turn a small drip into a bigger problem over time. Poor John's repairs and replaces faucets of all types across kitchen, bathroom, and tub/shower applications with flat-rate pricing on every job.
Kitchen faucets take more abuse than any other faucet in the house β high daily use, hot and cold cycling, and constant exposure to grease and soap residue. Pull-out and pull-down kitchen faucets have spray hoses that can crack or develop leaks over time. Single-handle ball faucets develop drips when the ball and seats wear out. Two-handle kitchen faucets typically fail at the cartridges or washers.
Kitchen faucet repair runs $215 at Poor John's. If you're replacing the faucet entirely and supply the fixture yourself, installation labor is $295.
Bathroom sink faucets are typically ball, cartridge, or ceramic disc types. Cartridge faucets are the most common in KC homes built in the last 30 years and are generally straightforward to repair. Single-handle bathroom faucets that drip at the spout usually need a cartridge replacement. Two-handle faucets that drip are typically worn washers or O-rings in the valve stems.
Bathroom faucet repair is $215. Customer-supplied faucet installation is $295.
Tub and shower faucets are more involved than sink faucets because they're built into the wall. A shower faucet that drips or won't balance temperature correctly typically needs a cartridge replacement. In older Kansas City homes with original fixtures, cartridges for obsolete faucet brands can be hard to source β which sometimes makes full valve replacement the more practical solution.
Tub/shower faucet repair runs $270. Full tub/shower faucet replacement ranges from $650 to $875 depending on the valve type and access. Shower-only faucet replacement runs $550 to $775. See the prices page for full details.
Kansas City's hard water is hard on faucets. Mineral deposits (calcium carbonate scale) build up inside cartridges, aerators, and valve bodies over time. A faucet that's relatively new but has low flow or is stiff to operate is often suffering from scale buildup rather than a worn part. Cleaning or replacing the aerator and cartridge often restores function. A whole-home water softener dramatically extends the life of faucets and fixtures throughout the house.
